DESCRIPTIONManaged Compute Runtimes (MCR) builds innovative managed compute solutions that empower Amazon Software Engineers to build and operate services for Amazon’s customers that are secure, highly available, and easy to scale. We identify and support the foundational infrastructure capabilities, tools, and datasets needed to support rapid global expansion of Amazon's SOA infrastructure, built on top of AWS technologies. Our team focuses on robust and scalable architecture patterns and engineering best practices, driving adoption of ever-evolving and cutting-edge AWS technologies.As a Software Development Manager (SDM), you will be at the forefront of defining Amazon’s strategy around well-architected cloud applications, improving developer productivity, and operational excellence for our Managed Compute Runtimes Division. Our team is working on an internal serverless compute platform used by many teams within Amazon. We have an ambitious vision for maximizing business agility and increasing developer productivity. As the leader of this space, you will hire, develop, and retain deep technical team members. As a site leader, you will be responsible for managing multiple teams and own the overall product roadmap, strategy and delivery. You will own defining the long-term vision, driving long and short- term product strategy, working with internal Amazon customers as well as partnering with stakeholders such as AWS Developer Tools and Consumer Resiliency Engineering. We already made substantial progress in this vision and here are some key facts1. As of 07/01 HEX-AWS manages 1400 services with around 900 production services2. HEX-AWS is growing 10% month over month with new services getting onboarded3. Opportunity to work on an core infrastructure layer such as EC2, ECS, Fargate, EKA, LBs, Security and have a broad impact across Amazon.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Hyderabad, TS, INDBASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 3+ years of engineering team management experience- 7+ years of engineering experience- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations- Experience partnering with product or program management teamsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
